I came up with “Save a Pet” as a phone application & website “SaveaAnimal.com” (SaveaPet.com was taken) because of the massive number of domestic animals being euthanised every year around the world, directly and indirectly from us (people) not wanting them or not being to look after them anymore.
We as humans make all the rules but suffer nothing like everything else around us. No animal knows what to do, they just live and try and survive.
I believed a big part of domestic animals survival is making it easy for people to locate a animal they wish to own and which will then potentially save. Most people I have spoken to would want to rescue a pet (dog and cat mainly) from a pound but would not find a pet that was suitable or what the family had in mind. From incorrect age to size to breed, plus a lot of pounds and shelters are not everywhere or located nearby to most people so going to these organisations to find the ideal pet only lasts about two weekends in a row and people tend to keep looking in that time and end up purchasing the animal they are specifically after online or from a breeder, thus not rescuing a animal from the pound or shelter.
This is where it gave me the idea to try and developed a way for people to be able to search the exact animal they are after, Seeing photos of the animal, the distance they are prepared to travel for that particular animal and knowing everything about the animal by just doing a search and if a specific search does not show a animal that they are after, a user can save that search and Save a Pet will send a instant notification when a animal fitting all the criteria entered gets added to the database.
You can contact the organisations where the animals are located by phone or email, saving the driving around and far less time spent.
Save a pet is free, I want it to be free, the only time money may have to be paid is if there is fees for medical treatments, de-sexing, micro chipping, vaccinations or other necessary medical treatments.
Pounds and shelters are the only users to request a fee. Private users are not permitted to make finical gain on our platforms.
I do understand there will be some cases where people have a beautiful animal that is worth money that they just cannot home or look after anymore but there are too many people out there that would use this service to make profit. Please understand, I have developed this platform to try to lessen the numbers or animals in needing homes, not increase it.
I want to encourage every animal refuge, shelter, pound or organisation to use a service like every animal is all in one place, so people can find a potential pet simply and easily so less animals will miss out on a possible new home.
